Our Last Word on the Inclusion of NHC Points
Before we start, it’s worth pointing out that several attempts to talk to the “Florida Circuit Board” about this subject have been made with no response.
There seems to be some confusion if National Homebrew Competition (NHC) points are included in the circuit total. This question is more frequent since NHC was canceled in 2020 and with the absence of regional NHC rounds in 2021 and 2022.
For tracking standings for individual brewers and brewing clubs on this site, NHC points WILL BE INCLUDED in the standing totals.
This decision is based on the history of these points, including in the past, before the 2020 cancellation, and beyond.
To illustrate this decision, we offer some definitive evidence to prove NHC has been included.
Exhibit A: The remnants of the Florida Circuit website, floridahomebrew.org, lists NHC as an eligible competition for the Florida Circuit:
Exhibit B: 2018, the circuit manager for the Florida circuit specifically addressed that the NHC for 2018 would be added to the tally in the Florida Homebrew Facebook group:
Exhibit C: The remnants of the Florida circuit website, floridahomebrew.org, show the NHC regional (NHCR1) points and the NHC final round (NHCFR) points in the individual brewer standings:
Exhibit D: A list of NHC medal winners was requested to add to the 2022 standings by the circuit manager in the Florida Homebrew Facebook group:
We hope this answers why NHC points are listed on our site and in the standings we track throughout the season.
It’s worth pointing out again – we are not the official site for the Florida Homebrew Circuit; we are a minimal set of volunteers showcasing the success and accomplishments of competitive homebrewers in Florida.
Cheers!
